Chestnut Acres Limited is a 185 acre family owned and operated farm located on the scenic Kingston Peninsula just minutes from the local farmers’ market. We believe in providing our customers with quality produce through the use of sustainable organic methods.
Chestnut Acres is committed to using ecologically sustainable agricultural practices free of conventional chemical pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers and genetically modified organisms. All of the food grown at the farm meets the national organic standards. We are currently certified through Atlantic Certified Organic (ACO).
ABOUT US
Chestnut Acres is located in the foot hills of Foster Mountain overlooking Picket Lake on the scenic Kingston Peninsula just minutes from the local farmers’ markets and within a 15 minute drive from Quispamsis and Hampton.
We have been growing organic fruits and vegetables for ourselves and family for many years and have grown and sold commercially since 2006. We currently sell our organic produce through a CSA delivery program and at the Kingston Farmers’ Market.
In 2008 our organic practices were inspected by an independent auditor and certification granted by MCOG. This certification verified our compliance with the National Organic Standards of Canada and allowed us to market our products as “Certified Organic”. Our products are currently certified by ACO.
We have more than 25 acres under certified organic cultivation. Half
of this area is dedicated to low bush blueberry production with the
balance in pasture, grains, cover crops and vegetable production. This
crop land is complemented by our 12,000 sq.ft of greenhouse space.
